The 10 Myths
of Organ Donation

Myth #1: A man who passed out at a party woke up in a bathtub full of ice with his kidney's STOLEN!

Well, you see, that never even happened. The operation is so complex, the chances of it actually being carried out in secret is next to impossible. Oh, and it's illegal.

Myth #2: Rich and famous people get first dibs on organs.

Um, no. There are many factors that determine who gets what organs, but status in society is not one of them.

Myth #3: If I'm in an accident, and the doctors know I'm a donor, they won't even try to save my life!

Nope. The doctors won't even know if you're a donor, because a different group handles that kind of stuff. They'll try their best to save you.

Myth #4: My religion does not approve of organ donation.

Wrong again, my friend. All organized religions support it.

Myth #5: My family has to pay for the donation.

No they don't.

Myth #6: Whoever gets my organs is gonna find my family and cause them a whole bunch of grief.

If so, it's your own fault. Donor's can keep their identity confidential if they want to.

Myth #7: They won't want my organs. I have a big 'ol history of medical illness!

I'm getting sick and tired of your excuses! Ha ha. Just kidding. But seriously, illness doesn't mean you can't donate. That's decided on a case by case basis by a medical team.

Myth #8: I'm not old enough. Or maybe I'm too old. Either way, I ain't the right donation age.

Poppycock! Practically anyone can do it! If you're under 75, you're all good! Cool, huh?

Myth #9: Yeah, well, I heard they take all your organs, even if you only want to donate one! What's up with that?

Who's telling you all this? The doctors will only take what you want to give.

Myth #10: All right, I think I already know the answer to this one, but I'll ask anyway. Do the doctor's mutilate your body getting the organs out?

..... no.
